Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is the practice of causing tiny abrasions to the skin, forcing your body to heal and create a new, unblemished surface. FlashLaser uses both microneedling treatments and laser treatments to perform skin resurfacing. We offer Resurfx and Pixel for laser skin resurfacing. Choosing the right type of skin resurfacing treatment should be done through a RN consultation to determine which method will produce the best results based on your skin condition and skin type. Resurfacing treatments are highly effective with:

  • Improving skin tone & texture

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Acne & surgical scars

  • Enlarged pores

  • Skin discoloration

  • Minimizing enlarged pores

  • Sun-damaged skin

  • Fine lines around the mouth and eyes

  • Chicken pox divots

  • Melasma

  • Stretch marks

Pixel

Pixel is a fractional ablative laser that creates controlled microdamage without affecting the surrounding skin. The difference between the Pixel and a C02 laser is that the down time for a Pixel is not as extreme as a C02. Pixel treats more superficial skin issues such as lines, wrinkles, scars and skin laxity whereas a C02 laser treats conditions that have affected the skin on a deeper level such as ice pick scars caused by severe acne. The layer of skin is destroyed in order for the body's healing reaction to generate new skin cells and renew the production of collagen. The number of treatments needed depends on the individual and their specific skin condition, however on average, 3-5 treatments is recommended to achieve optimal results. Pixel is a more aggressive laser because it is ablative, therefore the recovery time is around 5 to 7 days versus a Resurfx treatment. When scheduling a Pixel treatment, plan to spend around 1.5 to 2 hours in the office. First the R.N. cleans your skin and then applies the first layer of topical numbing cream. After around 20- 30 mins the second layer of numbing is applied then the actual treatment will begin, which lasts 45 mins to 1 hour depending on the area treated. Your after care instructions will be given after treatment along with a FlashLaser recovery kit.

Resurfx

is a fractional true non-ablative laser used for laser skin resurfacing. Fractional non-ablative means that narrow beams of light penetrate the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue or removing the top layer of skin. The laser heats up the underlying skin which helps rebuild and renew the production of collagen. The Resurfx laser is less aggressive compared to ablative lasers as it requires only one pass on the skins surface in order to be effective. The treatment time is around 30 mins and the recovery time is around 5-7 days. Resurfx can be used on the face as well as areas of the body to treat stretch marks and scars. For optimal results, 3-4 treatments every 4 weeks is recommended.

We recommend the Photofractional treatment which combines Resurfx and IPL Photofacial into one treatment session.
