Skin Lesion Removal

Skin lesions come in many different forms, such as skin tags, cherry angiomas, seborrheic keratosis, lipomas cysts, warts, and other skin growths. The Dr. uses a few different methods of removing these lesions depending on the type of growth and the area that it is located. First, and it is either removed with surgical scissors, by freezing with liquid nitrogen, shaved with a surgical blade or removed electrosurgically with a hyfrecator. The Doctor typically treats the following types of skin lesions

  • Moles- can be shaved if they are 2mm or less in size. If it is larger than 2mm then the Doctor may decide to excise it. Stitches may be required with excision. The mole is sent to a pathologist to be examined under a microscope in order to be sure that it is non-cancerous. $99 per mole + pathology $100

  • Skin Tags-  Skin Tags are small, benign lesions that look like small flaps of "hanging" skin. They are usually on the underarms, neck, eyelids, upper chest, and groin. They can become irritated and inflamed which is why they would need to be removed. This is a very simple procedure that can be done quickly. $50- $150

  • Cherry Angiomas- these are small, red lesions composed of blood vessels and are extremely common after the age of 25. Removal consists of snipping the angioma off with sterile surgical scissors and applying a simple bandage. $80- $199

  • Seborrheic Keratosis- is a benign tumor that is not dangerous. They are extremely common for people entering middle age but may appear earlier for some patients. The Doctor will use liquid nitrogen in order to freeze the growth or he may remove it with a scalpel blade.  $80- $199
